Let's Make Pretties!

Gingerbread House

Price: $15.00

Make a Gingerbread House tissue box cover and turn your boring tissue box into an adorable treat house for the holidays! Or anytime at all… gingerbread is good all year ’round! 😉

The pieces for this tissue box cover are made in the hoop (a 5×7 and 6×10 hoop are required); the walls are made from felt, and the roof is made from fabric. The house is then constructed with regular machine sewing and a bit of fabric glue. Step-by-step PDF instructions (with plenty of photos) show you how to complete the tissue box cover; also included are instructions for the machine embroidery applique portions of the house.

This Gingerbread House tissue box cover will fit a Puffs brand cube tissue box which measures 5” tall, 4.5” wide, and 4 – 5/8” long. (The largest side of the box is intended to be the House SIDE.) This project calls for a 1/2” seam allowance. If your tissue box is larger than these measurements, you can adjust the seam allowance slightly to make the cover fit.

NOTE! Wool/rayon blend felt is highly recommended for the walls of the Gingerbread House. (Click HERE to find wool/rayon felt; you will need 2 pieces to build the walls.) However, less expensive craft felt may also be used. When using acrylic or polyester craft felt, fuse woven interfacing to the wrong side to create sturdier felt. Quilt weight cotton that has been backed with Soft Loft Fusible or another firm, fusible cut-away stabilizer may also be used.

P.S. Need a gingerbread man for your house? There’s one in the Cuddly Dudes set!
