Have you ever wondered what your variegated thread will look like when it’s stitched out? Will it look as pretty on the project as it does on the spool? If you’ve used variegated thread at all, then you already know that the same thread can appear noticeably different depending on the type of stitching you’re doing. Satin-filled areas will look different than regular, flat-filled areas. Bean stitches will look different than zigzag or motifs.

Evy uses this little sampler design to test variegated threads and other specialty threads. The sampler contains a flat-filled area, a satin-filled area, a zigzag line, a bean stitch line, and a motif line. Stitching the sampler will give you a quick view of how the thread will appear in other designs that employ those same types of stitching. Then you can save your samples in a notebook for future reference!
