Hello, my dears! I know that some of you have been following my “wedding work” on Instagram and in the newsletters and might be interested in seeing the final results. Here are a few of my favorite photos… and believe me, it was hard to pick just a few! It was a lovely day – hot, but beautiful. My heart is full!
This blog post will be temporary and will eventually be replaced with some of my favorite tips for wedding sewing and machine embroidery. But that’s for another day when my brain decides to stop being squishy, ha!

Also, a huge thanks to all our Purcell friends who worked so hard to make the wedding and tea perfect and to my sister Charlene who did the beautiful flowers. Another shout-out to George’s wonderful family who hosted the wedding ceremony and tea at the old homestead built in the 1800’s… what a treat to be there! Thanks to the excellent folks who run The O’Donnell House. What a perfect place for the reception! Thanks also to the talented Bonnie Brunt Cakes who made the fabulous, yummy wedding cake. A great big thank you to my daughter-in-law and family who ran up and down the road from GA doing all the things to help – even the kids pitched in, bless their hearts!

19 years ago, this summer I was putting the finishing touches on my daughter’s wedding gown and the dresses for her two flower girls. You are right about how personal these garments become, and I indeed did work on my daughter’s gown for close to a year (from design ideas to product sourcing and finally sewing.) I incorporated bits of from my own wedding gown into all three. (And again, when I made baptism gowns for her 3 daughters and one of their cousins.)
Thank you, thank you, thank you Evy for sharing these wonderful photos. I teared up looking at all the love and happiness, and I haven’t even met any of these people! Bravo to you for all the beautiful sewing. Clearly you successfully stitched out Lydia Sera’s vision of a perfect wedding. I zoomed in on many shots to satisfy my curiosity about all the details on the wedding ensemble. I loved the simplicity of the flowers, the beautiful looks on your daughter’s faces, using your mother’s china beforehand. You and the 2 granddaughters on step warmed my heart. Your mom was twinkling and looked like she could have danced an old Irish jig. The setting under the tree couldn’t have been more perfect. But most importantly, your old hippy husband sure looks a lot like mine! Congratulations and best wishes for a happy life.
